I had my Gall Bladder removed on March 4th. So far, everything is healing just fine. The doctor had to remind me that even though it was laproscopic and the outside doesn't look bad, the insides still went through the ringer. I have only been able to walk...no jogging...and that has been frustrating. I have a pain in my side that won't go away and shows up a lot when I'm walking. And, though I'm healing fine from that, my back went out on me yesterday. about 4 years ago, it went out so bad we had to call an ambulance. It was then I found out that I have a bulging disc at the L4/L5 Vertabrae. So, now I'm on muscle relaxers and pain killers and I'm not supposed to even walk for at least 3 days while my back gets back to "normal". All part of getting older I suppose. I'm hoping my weightloss will prevent these attacks from happening so often.
Stacey starts school at Colorado Technical University on April 3rd. I'm SOOOO excited for him because it is the last part of his Bachelor's degree which is one of the goals he had when going in to the Army. His Army career may get cut short because of his back problems. He has an MRI scheduled at the end of this month and it will tell us more. But, they are thinking about Med Boarding him and that makes things scary for us since I'm not working yet. Stacey, as always, is keeping a positive attitude on things, and that is helping us all!
The kids are on Spring Break right now. We didn't do much. I tried to take them swimming, but they got bored with it. They have had bowling and they really like jammy days. So, overall, not a bad week. I surely needed the break myself.
The weather has been nice here, and it has given us the opportunity to go hiking almost every weekend. It is usually a really nice family time.
It was discovered during one of my last lab workups that I have a genetic mutation called MTHFR. In short, it causes low uptake of B Vitamins and iron. These are things I've had issues with for a while. Because of the low uptake of B Vitamins, it is common for people with this mutation to have depression. So, we're hoping knowing this will help my treatment be a little more acurate. Also, it causes things like hardening of the arteries, strokes, high blood pressure, acute leukemia etc. All things my mother had a problem with, so I think I know where it came from. I'm just happy to have the opportunity at a yound age to know this so it can be treated.
Well, that's about it! I did promise Avis that I would tell her about the boy that Emily made cry. It is a boy that likes her and she doesn't like him. He was talking with another girl about Emily in a not-so-nice way and she stood her ground and stood up for herself. Well, evidently this boy went crying....literally...to a teacher and I got a call that said, "Emily made a boy cry"...so, not a big deal really, but we all find it funny. I say...good for her....it is good to stick up for yourself! I'm proud that she had the confidence to say something!
I hope all is well! Please leave comments or e-mail me....we would love to hear from you!
